Bārbeles sēravota tuvumā jau Kurzemes hercoga Jēkaba valdīšanas laikā darbojās neliela ūdensdziednīca. 1736. gadā hercogs E. J. Bīrons pavēlēja avota apkaimē celt peldu māju. 18.gs. tas bija dziednieciski visspēcīgākais minerālavots Latvijā. I Pasaules kara laikā kūrvieta tika nopostīta. Pie avota iekārtota laipa, lai varētu pasmelt ūdeni un iepazīties ar interesantiem sēravota nostāstiem.
