Ap 1885. gadu daudzi Kolkas iedzīvotāji pārgāja pareizticībā un Kolkā nodibināja pareizticīgo draudzi.
Kolka ir vienīgais jūrmalas ciems, kur 1890. gadā (citos datos 1891–1892) uzcelta pareizticīgo baznīca un nosaukta par Kristus Piedzimšanas pareizticīgo baznīcu (Rīgas Eparhijas arhitekts Apollons Ēdelsons, būvuzņēmējs Voosts). 1982.gadā draudzei nācās atteikties no sava dievnama.
