Iģenes baznīca ir viena no nedaudzajām Latvijas koka baznīcām, kas būvēta 18. gadsimta vidū un joprojām sekmīgi kalpo sākotnējam mērķim. Baznīcas apjoma forma, plānojums un proporcijas ir arhaiskas, kas liecina par senu koka amatniecības tradīciju saglabāšanos.
Dievnams celts 1757. gadā par Iģenes muižas īpašnieka Aleksandra fon den Brinkena (Alexander von Brincken) līdzekļiem. Vienjoma koka guļbūve apšūta ar horizontāli kārtotiem dēļiem, poligonāla apsīda, sakristeja un no apjoma izvirzīts kvadrātplāna zvana tornis ar poligonālu jumta smaili. Ēka remontēta 1877., 1932. gadā. 1996. — 2004. gadā veikts apjomīgs kapitālais remonts — nostiprināti baznīcas pamati, restaurētas sienu guļbūves konstrukcijas, uzlikts jauns dakstiņu jumts, atjaunots tornis, ielikti jauni logi, kā arī tiek restaurēts interjers. Saglabājušies vairāki vērtīgi iekārtas priekšmeti: altāris (1752) un kancele, kuri 1932. gadā ne visai veiksmīgi krāsoti. Restaurācijas gaitā, attīrot virsējā melnā krāsojuma kārtu, atsedzās gleznojumi, kas ļauj spriest, ka kancele un altāris ir vecāki par pašu baznīcu. Savdabīgs ir durvju atslēgas apkalums (18. gs.) un koka tornī sēdošais vēja gailis (1757).
