Description
Pils projekta autors arhitekts Reinholds Georgs Šmēlings (1840.g.- 1917.g.) norāda, ka Nēķena pils arhitektūrā ir vērojams neorenesanses un villas motīvs. 1905.gada revolūcijas laikā Nēķena pils Panderu dzimtas humānās saimniekošanas dēļ palika neskarta. Nostāsts liecina, ka dedzinātājiem pretī stājušies Nēķena zemnieki un kalpi. Tomēr 1906.gada 23. oktobrī jaunajā pilī ierīkoja lauku kara tiesu. Pagrabi tika pārbūvēti par cietumu. Vairākas istabas pilī jau 20.gs. 30.gados tika izīrētas gan policijas darbiniekiem, gan Taurenes iedzīvotājiem. Arī pēckara gados pils telpas izmantoja dzīvokļiem.Visa Taurenes pagasta un pils vēsture ierakstīta Nēķena muižas parkā. No senās Mīlestības alejas un ābeļu puduriem līdz komunisma terora upuru piemiņas vietai. No liecības, ka te bija arī kolhozi (piemiņas akmens) līdz mūsdienu parka sakoptībai...Pie Nēķena muižas ieejas plīvo karogs ar pagasta ģerboni. Simbols – taura ragi - liecina, ka pirms 600 gadiem te bija mežains apvidus, kur mituši tauri. Zemnieku darbs šo zemi pārvērta. Izveidojās Taurenes muiža.Līdz 1925. gadam Taurenes muižas vārds bija aizmirsts. Eksistēja Nēķena pagasts un Nēķena muiža. 1925.gadā Nēķena pagasta valdes sēdē skolotājs K.Bormanis ierosināja neaizmirst sava novada vēsturi un atcerēties „Tauren” muižu
