Pils parks sākts veidot 1817. gadā agrāko pils vaļņu vietā. Pils salā izvietotajā parkā ir romantiski kanāli, tiltiņi, pils ēkas, Gubernatora saliņa, kas padara to par vienu no skaistākajiem parkiem Jelgavā. Pils parkā aug daži dižkoki – divas zirgkastaņas, piramidālais ozols, pelēcīgā apse. Rīgas ceļa labajā malā pie Driksas kādreiz bija 1913. gadā celtā Pilsteātra ēka, kas pēc Otrā pasaules kara tika noārdīta. Par tās atrašanās vietu liecina vien balta dekoratīva parka vāze.
