Saldus baptistu draudze dibināta jau 1870. gadā. Lūgšanu nama celtniecībai nepieciešamo zemi ir dāvinājis E. Vecmanis, bet būvdarbus vadījis Fricis Kronlīns. Skrundas ielā 12a tika uzcelta divstāvu koka ēka, kas kā lūgšanu nams iesvētīta 1883. gadā.
