Description
Alsungas Dievnams būvēts ap 1625.gadu vēlīnās gotikas un baroka pārejas laikā. Tā ir mūra krustveida celtne ar vienu torni un dakstiņu jumtu. 19.gadsimtā baznīcu paplašināja uz sāniem, piešķirot tai mūsdienās redzamo krusta formu.
Baznīca tika celta par muižnieka Jana Ulriha Šverina līdzekļiem, veltot to Svētā Miķeļa Erceņģeļa godam.
Vairāku gadsimtu garumā dievnams bija galvenā suitu kopienas svētvieta, – tās garīguma un identitātes atbalsts.
Dievnama interjerā ir apskatāmi holandiešu kokgriezēja Johana Mertensa darbi, kas tapuši ap 1715. gadu.
Zem baznīcas atrodas aizmūrētas Šverinu dzimtas kapenes.
