Cornelian cherry Cornus mas
PARASTAIS KIZILS - jeb ēdamais grimonis, viens no ziemcietīgākajiem un
agrāk ziedošajiem krūmiem pavasarī. Augstums 4-6 m. Lapojums zaļš,
rudenī lapas kļūst dzeltenas vai oranžas. Ziedi – sīki, dzelteni,
izkārtoti nelielos čemuros. Zied pirms salapošanas, aprīlī. Augļi – līdz
2cm lieli, iegareni kauleņi ar lielu mīkstuma daļu, koši, tumši
karmīnsarkani, ar patīkami saldenskābu garšu, ēdami (bagāti ar
askorbīnskābi, ābolskābi, citronskābi un citām skābēm). Ievāc septembrī,
oktobrī, kad sāk birt no krūma. Augļus
var lietot svaigus, žāvēt, saldēt, izmantot ievārījumu, kompotu
gatavošanai. Tautas medicīnā lieto pret gremošanas slimībām un
saaukstēšanos, īpaši noder diabētiķiem cukura līmeņa pazemināšanai.
Koksni izmanto izturīgu priekšmetu izgatavošanai (rokturi, koka pogas,
koka apavi).
Kizils ir svešapputes augs, tādēļ ražas ieguvei blakus jāstāda divi vai trīs krūmi.
Augsnes ziņā kizils ir pieticīgs. Labi pacieš periodisku sausumu.
Ēncietīgs, taču nepanes mitru augsni ar seklu gruntsūdeni. Patiks augt
vieglā, caurlaidīgā augsnē ar pH reakciju 5,5–6.
