Bērzes evaņģēliski luteriskā baznīca, church

The Bērze Evangelical Lutheran Church is an architectural monument of national significance. It was built as a wooden church in 1743 and reconstructed in 1820. The church holds unique items, such as a 18^th century harmonium and a bell with a dedication as a gift from the then president Kārlis Ulmanis to the church in 1939 where his baptism and confirmation had been performed. During the World War II, the church was partly destroyed with the church tower suffering significant damage. The locals of Bērze managed to save the bell which has now returned to the church tower.

The visitors can go up to the church tower to take a closer look at the church bell and to enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the neighbourhood.
