Sidgundas pilskalns jeb Veckalns iekļaujas Daugavas lībiešu apdzīvotajā teritorijā. Arheologi pilskalnu datē ar vēlo dzelzs laikmetu, 11. – 13. gs., tātad lībiešu kultūras uzplaukuma periodu. Pilskalns nav pētīts. Rakstītajos vēstures avotos Sidgunda pirmo reizi minēta Livonijas Indriķa hronikā, kur teikts: „1206.gada rudenī priesteris Daniels nokļuva lībiešu ciemā, ko sauc par Sidegundi. Viņš tūdaļ sasauca tautu, lai tā klausītos Dieva vārdu un lai kristītu to.”
