2000.gadā izveidots ģeoloģiskais un ģeomorfoloģiskais dabas piemineklis. Akmeņupīte ir Ogres labā krasta pieteka, tai ir liels relatīvais kritums – 70 m garā posmā tā nokrīt apmēram 10 m. Upītes gultne pilna lieliem apsūnojošiem akmeņiem ar bagātīgu sūnu floru. Akmeņupīte senāk saukta arī par Velna dzirnavām – Velns esot nesis akmeņus maisā lai kalnā taisītu dzirnavas, bet gaiļa pusnakts dziedājums to pārsteidzis, un akmeņu maiss pasprucis vaļā; tagad pavasaros palu ūdens krākdams iet pa akmeņiem kā pa dzirnavām.
